Bought an RCD510 on eBay - though I'll need to borrow a USB HEX cable from someone in Sydney for the coding.

Unfortunately my $300 RossTech MicroCAN cable won't work - there's a $159 trade-in upgrade available from RossTech, but that'll take a few weeks

i can hook you with someone that will fit it for you, he is a software programer and is very good at coding. He fitted my RCD510.

I feel your pain! I was caught out in exactly the same way with a genuine Ross-Tech MICRO CAN cable bought for use with my Skoda Octavia Scout. Couldn't believe the cable would not work with my Polo 6R. The upgrade price plus postage to our neck of the woods is too much to swallow, so I'm sorry to say I bought a cable off Deal Extreme which seems to work just fine, for a fraction of the price. Not condoning IP theft, but Ross-Tech have had a good chunk of my money already.

You guys are lucky. No one in tassie sells it so I'm at the mercy of eBay. 1 can plus postage is $40.
If I wasn't leaving tassie at the end of the year I'd start selling down here myself.

Now I have another question.
I just worked out with what I want to do with my polo gti there is 6-7 parts I want. And approx what numbers I want after it all.

Stock power
Kw: 132 / 100Atw
Nm: 250

Power after mods approx.
Kw: 182 / 150Atw
Nm: 360

Now that is roughly a golf R MY12.5 stock.
Now I need to spend to get those numbers
$9500 Approx. Is it better to do one or 2 things and wait to buy another car. In 4-5 years time.?. Or go ahead because the polo will be faster ?.

What's everyone's else's opinion ?.

$9500 is just the start. If you don't spend more on brakes and handling all that power is pointless. Wider wheels, decent coil overs and bush upgrades just for starters. What about dsg tune?
