Anyone know how long it usually takes insurance websites to pickup new vehicles on to their systems?
None of them seem to be able to quote the GTI yet.

Try Shannons. They're performance car speciallists & may have the new GTI on their list before other mobs.

They should also be the cheapest - they were, by a long shot, for my current GTI.

I have rung around several dealers in Sydney today and I get the strong idea they there is actually no physical stock of cars at any dealer except for the demo model. I also wouldn't be surprised if the first customer deliveries aren't until Jan 2011.

So I was wrong... VW are silly enough to release a new model with no cars to actually deliver - lol

Well it's stock bound for Sydney. It just gets to Perth first and then gets sent to us.

I was lucky. Most cars selling in Sydney are 3 doors. VWA expected more people to buy the 5 door so they brought more of them in.

Good for me.

I wasn't fussed if I got a White/Silver or Black one.

Black will look brilliant.

How are the 3 different driving modes?
Sports?

What would be appealing (especially for daily commuters) is that if the manual/sports modes are fun enough, there's the option of normal mode (which, in my experience, there are always times, say in grid-lock, where you don't want to deal with a manual transmission).

Ahh so I had it wrong - thought "S" mode was the more aggressive auto mode, when in fact it's a paddle-only mode?

& you can't use D with paddles, only stick shift +/-?

+/- mode is exactly that. Just an alternative to paddles. I prefer the paddles myself.

has anyone pointed out that the accelerator pedal on the VW website for the gti is like the golf gti. but in the demo car they're the same pedals as the previous gti anyone know if the the next batchment/shipment will get the same or different?
