I spoke to a dealer today. It seems that it's available for order. But not necessarily available to test drive at (all) dealers yet.
As for P-plater approved. I would say that there is little chance of that in many states.
Not only it this supercharged & turbocharged - but it is marketted as the "sports" variety of the Polo range. Which puts an additional mark against it being P-plater approved.

I highly doubt it, as you may know P-Platers in NSW are prohibited from driving Turbo Charged, Supercharged or highly naturally charged engines (High tune V6, V8 e.g. SSV etc) unless for emergency circumstances i highly doubt your local highway patrol will be that friendly.

True, this whole thing is beyond me given my Mk5 R32 is legal for her to drive.....and probably won't help when going for the exemptions either.

The 118TSI is legal in VIC if you get an exemption, although I also doubt it would pass (The GTI that is). I had the same problem when I was looking at buying a Golf GTI, that didn't pass. Although I can buy a Lotus Elise and that's fine

went to bill buckle, no showroom models yet. but hopefully weekend. put my name down for a test as i said i wanted to see what the dsg is like before i commit to it over the golf gti man

In comparison I priced a white Golf GTI 3 door manual (no options). $900 DD plus $2100 discount = $39.6K

Shows what a bargain the Polo GTI is.

I drove the GTI (3 door) on Saturday and I've got to say it was brilliant.

The DSG has far less 'lag' than in the Comfortline.

My only complaint (and it's kinda odd) is the flat bottomed steering wheel will take a bit to get used to.

Nice. The flat bottom steering wheel just seems like it adds more leg room to me?

I'm kinda a circus midget at 5'7 but I suppose it'll give more legroom.

Just felt weird slipping through the fingers after a turn and not being round.

Both 3 door and 5 doors are made in Spain
