  • Well on roads are part of the price I pay per month out of my salary. Just saying they got me an awesome price and all of the options were dirt cheap.

*Sorry post was not meant to mislead anyone. Just stating they got me a good bargin*

If you look at it I didnt pay any dealer delivery. And my Rego+CTP is only 470.00. Also don't know if I paid stamp duty?

    • I've looked at Salary Sacrificing for the Polo.

You have to understand that GST is excluded on the initial purchase price. You may get a discount and you will get a reduced dealer delivery. All up the discount and reduced dealer delivery were about equivalent to going in and haggling a discount on a private sale.
If I am not mistaken GST will need to be paid on the value of the car when you finish or end the lease and want to either keep the car or sell it privately.

Add the FBT liability, ongoing management fees and insurance costs I could better myself, salary sacrificing made no sense to me.

      • Hmm

Your correct in some instances. I compared paying finance, service, fuel Ect for a fiesta

This is a 19k car. Per week it's the same price to package the More expensive polo.

Definitely coming out on top in the lease. If you sell the car for more than the residual you keep any profits. Tax Free

Novate leasing/salary sacrificing is good for people on a high salary (to bring their taxable income down) or those on low salary who dont have the finances to buy a car. ongoing mgmnt fees are minimal ($5-10) a month, insurance is same (you can insure with your preferred insurance and claime it back) or opt for their insurance which usually covers the finance part of it as well. I think if you novate for 1 or 2 years you should come ahead or even , 1 year lease is the most benefiting . Each persons circumstances would determine one way or the other.

          • Leasing

I don't end up paying any lease mgmt fees. It's all free. I'm leasing for 2 years. Deff coming out ahead. Especially at the price I'm paying for a fully optioned car.

And in my case to insure a basic car is over 2k a year (due to age)
            Under a lease it's only 1k

            • $24000 drive away for pepper grey (metallic), comfort pack, DSG (auto), 77TSI Comfortline with floor mats front and back.

But there's a little more to the price than just that. My fiance's cousin had bartered for a golf the week before for his mother, was bartering for our car and had promised to buy another golf for himself in a month's time all through the same guy at South Yarra VW in Melbourne, that probably helped.

(For potential buyers with an iphone I'd recommend against the audio pack as I added a cradle to the right of the steering wheel, put in an xcarlink myself and can now charge, play music, take calls (through speaker phone) and use my iphone4 as a navi. Better than having it in the glove box. All I had to do was call up the dealership to get the radio unlock code once I plugged it all back in.)

              • $31700 for a Red 5 dr Polo GTI (no options) with delivery in late Feb.
Fleet discount was $600 but I have a window of a few days to get our corporate rate (current VW OEM supplier) applied, which should knock a few $100 more off the price.

Seeing the dramas people are having with waits, I'm happy to have a car in my hands within the next month and live without the minor convenience offered with the comfort pack, which was the only factory option I was after.

I have been told it is due to parts shortage. Not sure if that is legit.

This is a bummer for the buyer and dealer as well, you would think. But apparently, the dealer is making the best of situation by signing up as many buyers that they can. They know that some buyers would cancel but they are not worried because they can sell the in-transit order to another buyer quite easily and probably at higher price.

I ended up getting this cradle:
Griffin Technology: WindowSeat HandsFree - Windshield or dash mount with hands-free mic

I was one of the few that would fit a charger cable and I think it looks pretty good compared to some of the others I've seen. It can stick on your dash too if you remove the arm.

If you're going to go for the xcarlink, I'd recommend ebay, but confirm it's the model that charges the iphone4 as well as plays the music etc. The aussie xcarlink site didn't work when I went to buy it from there but it looks like an older model anyway. There are versions with and without the blue tooth adapter plug, so watch out for that if you might want blue tooth later.
