              • uhhh. reading the last few pages... did I get ripped off?

$32k for stock standard GTI Polo? Dealer wouldn't budge on dropping one k....

It was a cancelation order on the car and they just picked up (they - the dealership) and just put it on carsales.... I bought it the next day after I called them...

The car was already there, but I had to wait 3 weeks to pick it up for tax reasons...

No, not ripped off. You just didn't geta a bargain. $32k (depending on # of doors) is roughly what the on-road cost should be. After months of looking on carsales.com.au I've noticed that most dealers are advertising $33-$34k for a basic car. There is the odd one going for $32k, but they are few & far between (although people who've ordered them and are waiting are getting better deals).

There is one dealer in Vic that has been advertsing ones between 30 & 32 thousand frequently. However, I've called them on three different occasions and got the response "Oh, carsales has stuffed that up. It's really..." and then been given a price between 2 & 4 thousand dearer.

Wow that is seriously shonky, the dealers/sellers enter in the cars not CarSales. I'd consider reporting them to CS.

Just so you know that free service car isn't really anything as I always get one there and I didn't buy my car through them... the downside is there is always a long wait to get the courtesy car. Full tank of petrol should be there regardless. $1200 is a lot of money for paint protection and tint!

yeah i figured about the free service car but thought i'd just inform everyone, i wouldn't need one anyway. I agree with the tint and paint protection being over priced but thought it would be safer to get that done through them. Do most ppl get their tint and paint protection done elsewhere? or choose for nothing at all.
