Was driving along a bumpy concrete road with the roof closed and I'm pretty sure it was the wind deflector making the noise. My Astra had an awful rattle from somewhere in the dashboard and the sunroof rattle is very quiet compared to it...so it doesn't really bother me.

Well the fuel line rattle is fixed (hopefully never to return) and FYI Kelal, the service both times I've been to NMG has been quite good. Not sure what a software update had to do with it though, unless it was to adjust the idle rpm or was for something else entirely. Whatever, I didn't question it too much since it was free and she's driving as sweetly as ever.

Now some people will say there is rattling going on when applying your foot down for power to get a lower gear in the DSG, and also when going over speed bumps Do not fret!!! it isn't a problem...it's actually the gearbox searching for the appropriate gear (happens at slower speed)...
Hi all,
I had my Polo 77TSI with a DSG gearbox since September 2010. It has all the little problems you all have mentioned.
Mind you this is my first brand new car. So I'm getting paranoid with some of the noises it is making. However last night, when the car was in stationary and about to drive up a hill (not steep at all), the change from 1st to 2nd gear was making a grinding noise from the DSG gearbox from 0-50 km/h only. It was loud enough to put my attention to it as i have the audio on as well as it was roughly took 1 second to stop grinding and shook the car a bit.
The noise of the grinding is similar to when you are in a higher gear at a slow speed in the Manual gearbox. Today when i stuck in the traffic, it does similar situation but with shorter time when i'm shifting up from 1st to 2nd not down. The car was on D mode all the time.
Could you please let me know if this happened to yours? My car has done 11,000+ km since September 2010 and it is due to go to a service soon.Last edited by jansy2011; 27-08-2011, 02:17 PM.

Rattle under dash not fixed......Grrrrrr
Had the rattle under the front dash fixed (fuel lines) 2 months ago..........now its back....
Plus now there is a new noise, a light knock from the front suspension......it maybe the bushes as the car still handles/rides fine....and there is no sogginess in the suspension.....
Have also listened for CV joints clicking and its not them at all........
Can only hear it at walking pace and its not the DSG as the noise has happened while the car was in "N".......
Will mention these noises next service........Next: Mk 5 Golf R32 (in blue please)
Now: 2014 Skoda Yeti 90tsi Ambition TECH PACK
Had: 2012 ABARTH 500 esseesse
Had:2010 77tsi DSG7, Comfort Pack, Reflex silver

Hey Guys and Gals,
Just thought I would write up my Polo 6R's rattles before she goes into VW Classic Cars on Tuesday morning.
Metallic sounding rattle going up inclines (especially with windows down and going past parked cars)
Also a diesel noise when accelerating. Only just developed wasn't there when the car was new. Car now has approx 1000k's now.
Passenger seatbelt holder bangs into the side of the chair causing an annoying rattle when going over any slight bumps. Has anyone else got this issue? (Not an issue with a passenger seated and seatbelt fastened)
Drivers seat now squeaks when I am sitting in the chair. So when acceleration and breaking my chair makes an annoying squeak.
What you guys think?

I still have a cold morning passenger door handle rattle....at least that's as close as I can make out the sound is coming from. If I lean over and pull hard on the handle the noise goes away for a while...MY18 GOLF 110TSI I HIGHLINE I Indium I Panoramic Sunroof I DAP I IP
