I've had a few problems with my Polo which I would love some advice on...
Firstly, I have been having the really rough idle from cold start and the incredibly noisy engine rattle when idling at approx 500 rpm - I took it into my closest dealer last week and they ran diagnostics, told me the software was all up to date etc, but still couldn't do anything about the problems which irritated me greatly!
Secondly, my Polo, which has only done about 5000ks, just died on me today as I was driving down the road - power steering died and fortunately I was on a quiet road so managed to wrestle it onto the side of the road. It's being towed to the dealer tomorrow as the roadside assist team couldn't figure out too much other then the fuel injection system wasn't working.
Has anyone else has their Polo just die on them yet??? What should I tell the service place about the rattling??
Thanks!!

Not the normal Polo problem - Polo 77TSI is 6 days old and 370 klm on the clock - went to go home at lunchtime to enjoy a work paid half day - flat tyre. End result it has 3 holes very close together - Bob Jane say cannot repair - too many holes close together - $240 and up to a 3 week (due to festive season holidays) wait for a new tyre they have to get from Melbourne. Not particularly happy at the moment.Mark 7.5 2018 White Golf R with Driver Assist & Dynaudio packages.

Yep, we had the same issue when the dealer principal's wife drove for God know how long on a flat 17in tyre on the only Polo with a sports package we had. Took forever to get a new tyre for it. 3 weeks later, she did it again in a MK6 GTI, and trashed the rim at the same time. If it was anyone else in the dealership, they would've been shot on site...'07 Transporter 1.9 TDI

Are you willing to privately name and shame this dealer principle to Volkswagen group? as it would help others from a bad experience with this Dealer principle allowing his wife to possibly destroy a future owners ride with unseen problems down the track.

After driving my car for about 20 minutes today, I parked and turned the engine off. Decided to park at another spot so I turned the engine back on and turned on the A/C. Hot air started blowing, like the heater was on, even though the temperature was set at 22 degrees Celsius and it had been cool throughout my drive prior to that. Turned the A/C off and back on and the problem was solved. Anyone experienced this before? It's a Polo 1.2 TSI, about a month old with 1200km on the odometer.

I have now had my polo for 2 months with 1800 kms on the odometer. I have experienced rough idling when I first start the car in the morning (not always doing this) and also some noise from the passsenger side firewall when the car in accelerating under load (always hear this noise). The noise is not really a rattle more like engine noise. I am not sure if the noise is normal and cannot remeber hearing it when I did a test drive and my mate has a golf that does not make a noise like this. Is any other owner hearing the noise under acceleration? It is more prevelant when the A/C fan is running. Was goiig to have rough idle looked at by dealer but also would like to know more about noise before I raise this as a problem.VW Polo 6R, 77 TSI, DSG, Candy White, Comfortline, Comfort Pack, Sports Pack, RCD510, MDI, Leatherette/Alcantara, Rear Parking Sensors.

ok, here we go.
After 3500kms the following issues have arisen:
1. Wind noise from front passenger rear mirror area when travelling at 70km/h+ (the wind noise does sound excessive)
2. Severe hesitation from turbo during initial acceleration from a standing start. Once above 2200 - 2500rpm...all good.
3. The car is too quiet....can't hear it when my wife comes home from work. I'm forever getting sprung for being on the computerMY16 Touareg 4.2Lt V8 TDI/Pure White LED lightbox/REDARC Brake Controller/ Racechip/iDrive Throttle controller

I just want to thank everyone who have posted on this thread. The advice is awesome and I don't feel so alone with the problems I've been haven with my car. My Polo is 3 months old now and I've done just over 2000 kms. I have taken the car back to the dealer on 2 separate occasions all regarding the rattle behind the dash. My first visit back to then was on the third day after taking delivery of the car. The MDI wasn't working as well as the rattle. The audio system fault was explained as a faulty cable and that the unit (RCD310) only has one output option so I had to choose between the MDI output or the 3.5mm aux jack. They also explained the rattle as a hose having come loose from it's clip and had remounted it. (this thread has explained the issue so much better!!) So a second visit was booked in and as it turned out, the Aux power socket near the gear lever was not working either. Again, they fixed it and it hadn't rattled again until this morning. Again, the usual symptoms: rattle under power, while the engine was cool. It's just that this time it's less throaty and seems more like a turbo issue as it gets louder and louder until you reach 4000rpm.
The car itself is phenomenal, but this recurrence of the same issue over and over again is definitely impacting my overall enjoyment of the car. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? Can I take it to another VW dealer?
However, the rattle came back within a week so it was another trip to the dealer.

My Turn:
So, after 4074km's the rattle for me has finally reached the point where i can't ignore it. Its been there since I bought it but it was a really rare occasion so i ignored it.
It's booked into Norris VW tomorrow morning to be looked at, im certain i can replicate it too as it occurs almost evertime I accelerate.
I'm also going to bring up the stalling issue i have, it hadn't happened for at least 1500km's but this morning while sitting at a set of lights in neutral, foot nowhere near the clutch it stalled.'JAE89'

I too have now got the rattle. Took delivery just over a month ago and problem surfaced within 2 weeks.
Took it to the Chatswood Classic Cars service centre in Artarmon today along with a print out of this thread. Within 2 hours they have verified the problem, confirmed it's the "known issue" mentioned in previous posts and have ordered the new part. ETA is 1-2 weeks and I'll have to book it in again, but no biggie if they're doing a genuine fix. They even washed and vacuumed the car while I was on my way to collect it2010 Polo 77TSI DSG with Sports Pack in Candy White
