Well polo we just bought will be going back to the dealer shortly, climate control fan is making a horrible annoying noise and there's a rattle that has gotten a lot louder as more milage is put on the car. Overall pretty happy with the car and can't wait for my Golf R but little dissapointed with some of these issues that you don't expect on a brand new car.

Honestly this could possibly boil down to the fact they have chosen to build the polo in South Africa, nothing but Quality control problems, if this was built in Germany/Europe it would be a different story.
You have to wonder why the MkVI Golf is now being made in Germany rather than S.A, and why BMW ceased all its coupe model builds in S.A in 2005.

Just a little update, fan has stopped making that annoying noise now, bunch of paint brush looking bristles blew out of the air vent onto my white shirtguess that's one positive!
Rattle however has gotten much worse, to the point you can hear it with the windows up and radio on. Sent an email to the dealership and will be following that up with a phone call shortly given the lack of response so far.

Perhaps giving the ECU a bit longer to learn your driving styles might help??

Any interest in putting a subwoofer in it??? Or upgrade the speakers???
I really want to know, and you seem like the person to ask
Because you know, they are more important in upgrading the sound quality in my opinion...

The rattle is on the drivers side, somewhere under the firewall area. It only happens under load/acceleration. It only seems to do it once the engine is warm, but not definite on that, as I only drive lightly until the engine is warm. It's annoying but not to concerned, it's under warranty and is booked in again for them to fix it.

So a while ago, I got the rattle fixed. It was the fuel lines on the chassis I believe from memory (not quite 100% sure anymore as it was a while ago).
Now for a new problem...
For the last couple of months on cold start up, the car idles rough. Once the engine is warm - in about 5 mins - it's fine again.
Car went to the dealership on on Monday for it to be looked at - had been booked in for over a week. When I booked it in they asked me what it needed checking and told them this. Girlfriend drives all the way down there for them to tell her that the only way they can look for this is to keep the car overnight and can't do it now!!! They could have told us that when I first booked it in! Not happy...

Hi Craig - I had the same problem in my Polo. Just occasionally idling rough on or shortly after starting it from cold. Took it to my dealer and they did an update on the ECU software. This was just over a week ago and so far I haven't noticed the problem again. They didn't keep it overnight either - picked it up same day.2010 VW Polo 77TSI Pearl Black, DSG, Sports Pack

Whilst away on a weekend holiday with the girlfrient the oil light came on solid yellow. Checked the oil and was at the lower end of range on the dipstick. Checked the book and the VW oil reccomendation is a code unique to VW and didntreally give me a 5w30 type ID so i could top it up so left it where it was and drove home.
Took it to the dealer yesterday and they said it was down about 300mls with the explanation that 300mls in 4000km (since its 1000km service) wasnt unexpected due to finer engine tolerances and higher emission standards!???!. This set off the bull**** detector, as we have not noticed a cloud of smoke behind us at any point that would fit with 300mls of oil usage! And no modern car would pass emission standards like that! Sounds to me more like the apprentice didnt put enough oil in last service!!!
Any thoughts?
