Well look at that, in the BOOT the right hand side has strutt thingo that holds the boot open, leaked and is broken.... Anything else?

Regarding the Intake Manifold, after errors coming up in the system; 6 of them. I have no idea what's wrong but it's not letting air into engine properly and car is under performing... Struggling for power...

      Hi Gav,

Do you know much about this 'oil change' problem?

I have a 2014 registered UK Polo 1.2 TDI, I bought the car end of February and picked the car up on March the 14th, this makes the car 1 month and 2 days old.

I got the 'Oil Change' warning about 2-3 days after owning it and got it looked at and this forced me to change the date of my 6 week check up to the 8th of March, 3 weeks after picking up the new car.

It's now been another week since it had that checkup and my brother pointed out today that it has the 'oil change' warning again.

I'm really quite pissed off that for a 1 month old brand new car with 11 miles on it when i picked it up is having a warning when i start the engine.

I'm sorry but I have to laugh at the 11 miles you have done in a month haha. I do about 70km (43mi) a day to work and back.

What do you mean it displays a "oil change" light. I have never seen one of these on a polo ever. There is a long life service Recomendation which goes by oil quality but it just says "service". Other than that there is a yellow oil light (which means low oil level) and a red oil light (which means low oil pressure).

Which one are you taking about? Do you have any more details? I don't think I have ever heard of oil problems with the TDI's.

Also the recall Gavs it talking about is the oil recall for the DSG gearboxes not the engine oil.

Unacceptable by me to wait weeks to get it properly looked at and fixed as all they've done is reset the computer for it to be normal until then and my engine light keeps going on.
Definitely take this to Volkswagen Australia directly (email volkswagen assist) They will likely put some hard word on for you. Waiting that long for such a big thing isn't right.

He said "for a 1 month old brand new car with 11 miles on it when i picked it up".

It was 11 miles when he picked it up, not after a month.

I picked the car up with 11 delivery miles on it, the car is now sitting at 1600 (i too drive a shedload for work )

I ran outside and took this photo of the instrument panel when i turn the key to position 1 and activate electrics.

Once the car takes off this warning disappears but it is still quite nerving to me that a car of this newness has a warning, and especially as it's been already checked out by the VW garage at its 6 week.. sorry 3 week check up that they do on every new car.

              • Might be related to the service interval settings. Have a look at the service messages on the MFD and the duration may be set to 0. You can reset the display with instructions in the owner's manual.

The owner's manual in Oz shows the service interval reminder in km or days but there's no reference to the term oil change.

If in doubt, get the VW service to reset or check there's no software issue.

                • The car has been booked in for another service and they believe it is a sensor issue so that will probably be replaced, if not then i will be expecting a full flush and new oils in the car to try rid the problem.

                  • HI All ,

I wonder if anyone is experiencing the problem with the bluetooth kit in the Polo TSI Comfort pack it has the dash mourned touch screen.. I had it looked at by JH VW in Perth they said its a noted warranty issue and have several customers awaiting a response from VW to how they will fix it.. The unit is not responding, it will turn of and on randomly, you can't pair anything. I have contacted VW australia twice already since Feb 17th 2014 however no reply. Id like to make contact with anyone else having the issue maybe congaing in numbers might help speed up the process. For me driving a lot using the BT all the time its a main feature and in my buying reason plus if its not working it sits there off or flickering or searching looking like an aftermarket add-on distracting from what should be a perfectly new car experience.

VW know all about it but from what the service guys told me and it is very very common. But they don't really know what to do as it was a problem with Bury equipment supplied at tge factory.

Keep pestering VW assist though... mentioning the word ombudsman might not do any harm either.

got our Polo Trendline about a month ago. Stoked with the car apart from one flaw.
Every morning since we picked it up, it never starts first go. Usually takes 2-3 goes to get it to start. It turns over but doesn't seem to want to start up. Once started it's fine all day, never another problem.
Doesn't seem to matter whether it's a cold morning or not, although does take maybe 5 goes on a super cold morning. And does't matter whether it's on an incline or decline. Tried a few other things and can't seem to remedy it.
Took it back to the dealer after 2 weeks of putting up with it to be told it is a "software issue" that VW Oz is aware of and are working on a fix. Sounds a little fishy to me? Obviously my next step is to take it to a different dealer, but getting the feeling I may be told the same thing, can't hurt to try though.
Anyone else had a similar issue with theirs? Been trawling around and thinking maybe asking them to check the temperature sensor? Mightn't be working and hence not supplying the engine with enough fuel on startup?
Forgive me if I sound like an absolute rookie, as that's pretty much what I am!

                        cheers
Ok so update on the above.
Ended up taking it to another dealer who was light years ahead in terms of service and actually seeming to care that we had any issues with our brand new car.
Picked it up this morning after the dealer had hooked it all up with the computer and VW came back with a software issue for the problem. Still find this weird, but oh well. Left it overnight at the dealer so they could do a cold start this morning and all good, apparently. Will obviously try myself in the morning. But fingers crossed!

If anyone else has this issue in the future, this was the bulletin # for the fix from VW: 2036881/1

                          • Hi guys, I want to talk with anyone who has had numerous problems with their 2011 polo 77tsi 7 speed DSG.

My Polo is now 2years and 9 mths old and has been going back to the dealer for multiple problems since about 3 months old.

                            Problems so far

Rough idle at start up - ECU update
Rough idle at start up - Turbo Actuator Spacer installed
Rough idle at start up continues- ECU Update
Problem with DSG not changing gear (DSG gets stuck between gears and engine over revs)- Think they changed Program in mechatronics unit but am unsure if this is what they did)
Rough idle at start up continues but now with a rattle at start up - Turbo Actuator Spacer Removed and then Replaced again with another ECU Update

DSG Gear problem again - Mechatronics replaced ( my car was being recalled anyway)
Rattle/ hydraulic lifter type noise and rough idle- Timing Chain and tensioner Replacement.
Car intermittently lurches due to unknown reason. suspect DSG but am not sure- They find nothing wrong
Car intermittently lurches due to unknown reason. suspect DSG but am not sure- they find nothing wrong again
Car intermittently lurches due to unknown reason. suspect DSG but am not sure - they do some adaption change (not sure what the heck that is)
Car intermittently lurches due to unknown reason. suspect DSG but am not sure and rattle/hydraulic lifter noise back- they find no rattle but get symptoms of DSG playing up- fix, unsure they realed off some long winded code for the fix they applied and said my car drives smooth......

I have just got my car back today and the Rattle when i started it was so loud I could feel the timing chain rattle through the plastic cover that I was too scared to drive it to work so I took my wifes 1998 Toyota Corrola for the 100km drive to work.

Id like to hear from anyone for any ideas as to what the hell i do now.

                            • Hi All

Just picked up my new Gti which was delivered 18 April 2014 (with 10 kms on the clock). The only optional extras I got was the tinting and VW 17" Motorsport wheels.

Since then, I have driven the car about 1,500 kms in the 2 weeks (as part of the break in process). As much as a I love the hardware in the car (its has been a absolute joy to drive), I have had the following issues which has been detracting (and unexpected):

                              - Stereo head unit ("Radio")

The radio stopped working on the day the car got delivered. Some days, when I start the car the radio will turn on for a minute or so before turning off.

However on Sunday, the radio turned on randomly but, when the radio screen went off (again at a random time), the radio did not go off (like it usually does). The radio did not turn off even after the car was turned off, ignition key taken out and the car locked. After the radio was on an hour after I locked up, I called up the Volkswagen assist, who sent out a technician whose only choice after his inspection was to disconnect the battery.

Since he disconnected and reconnected the battery, the radio is back to its usual self (i.e. still does not turn on no matter what you do).

                              - High pitched squeal from front wheels well area (sounds similar to brake squeal)

Since I have received the car, when idling along or just coasting to a stop, (less than 15km/h) I hear what sounds like a metal on metal high pitched squealing noise. Sometimes it pulses, sometimes its a constant noise until I come to a stop. Once I am moving faster than 15 km/h, or when I come to a complete stop, the noise completely disappears. I have checked the brakes (and also had the technician inspect it when he came for the radio) and came up with nothing.

I have already booked in a pit-stop service with Austral Volkswagen (at Newstead) this Wednesday to do a oil change and to look at the radio. I will also ask them to look at the squealing issues.

Such a pity since I absolutely love my car, hope they are able to resolve everything this service. Will keep you updated.

It's been about 3 weeks since we got the car back with the software update and it never fixed the problem. Been doing it every morning since.
Now they're saying that they couldn't even replicate the problem when I brought it in, which makes me think this "software update" sounds even more suss than it did before!
Taking it back on Friday while we're away for a week. Telling them that it really needs to be diagnosed and fixed this time. Obviously.
But if they give me the same old run around then I'm pretty sure some further action is going to need to be taken. They don't seem to get the gravity of the situation being that this car was bought brand new 3 months ago and has not started in the mornings every single morning since we've had it.
What would you guys recommend as next point of call? VW Australia? Then ACCC after that?

Love the car, just obvious want the thing to START!! Pretty basic operation for a new vehicle.
