Hrm, I know of a few alcantara having the same issues. Sounds like it could be similar though, VW need to replace your seat if lubricant doesn't work. I cannot remember where in this forum, but someone had advised the source of the noise, and lube did help quiet things down...

I was told by my local dealership that they cannot fix the squeaks coming from the chair cause of how theyre mounted...I have the alacantara and ive tried tightening screws/bolts and lubing and nothing does the trick.

I had my drivers side alcantara seat fixed twice before that annoying sound disappeared. VW didn't...and wouldn't replace the seat but they did replace most of the hardware built into it.

Has been great ever since but before it was fixed I drove to QLD and back putting up with that squeak

Clutch replacement is "half complete". They said a part didn't arrive in time, so they'll need it on Tuesday again to fix it all up.

Ummm, what?! The clutch kit comes will all require parts so unless it doesn't have enough shims, or someone has spilt the dsg oil somehow, I don't understand how they could be waiting on parts to finish it....

That's the impression I got. They had some graphs attached to my paperwork. I suspect that they didn't touch anything apart from doing a diagnostic (which should have been done in the previous 2 attempts to fix this). It still took them 10 mins to "give me a story".

Hey guys just wondering if any has had the problem of headlights and tail lamps not turning off ever when driving? We've noticed ours are ALWAYS on, and the only way to turn off the headlights is to turn the switch to the parking light position, but then just the DRLs and tail lights are on. Other than that if the switch is off, from and rear lights are all on. Does anyone have this issue, and if so did the dealer fix it or is,there something I can do myself. Just tired of bringing in the car for these constant little problems (and they usually find nothing wrong anyways and threaten to start charging us, even if its for warranty things)

Sorry uys one more thing! That's what's this thread should have been called, "just one more problem"! A few times we've noticed the brake pedal clunks when you take your foot off or put it on, and at times either goes totally to the floor when stopped and "clunks" or just clunks when you let go. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

So following up on this post... Booked my car in for a service Friday last week, when I picked it up I was told I would have to re-book it in for a 2 day service to get a timing belt replaced because that will apparently stop the rattling noise, thank God it's still under warranty! Does this fix sound right to anyone? I have to say I'm a bit over all of these trips to the dealer and the poor customer service I have received so far. They couldn't even offer me a courtesy car to loan for another month which means I will probably be without a car for 2 days.

This is VW's version of DRL's for people without the Xenon headlights.
If you don't like it you can take it to the dealer and they should be able to turn them off for you, but as it's a safety feature it's probably best to leave them on.

Does the 'clunk' come from the physical brake pedal assembly or from somewhere behind?
I have noticed some weird noises from somewhere behind the dash related to braking in my sister's Polo.

Does it go flat to the floor during normal braking, or only when stopped? The braking system does change the feel of the pedal a lot depending on how you use it i.e if you push the pedal really slowly it will travel further but if you suddenly stomp on the brakes the pedal will only move slightly. Also I can quite easily push the brake pedal right to the floor on my sister's Polo when stopped, just by pushing really slowly.

I've had DRLs on several cars I've owned, and I have seen several VWs driving around with their DRLs on, which are the "inner" most lamps in the 77TSI (there are two on each side) only, not the full brightness outer ones. And on these other Polos, Golfs etc, just the inner most lamps are on and not the outer headlamps and not the tail lamps. Ours, every lamp is on, including the full brightness outer front headlamps and the REAR tail lights. I've seen and read that VW DRLs are just the front inner most headlamps and no other lights should be on, ie rear tail lamps or full brightness front. As this would be pointless causing more wear on the bulbs. That's the issue with ours, ALL, front and back lights are on 24/7 when we are driving, and there is no way to turn them off. So basically the switch on the dash is pointless because it doesn't turn off the lights ever unless the key is removed. Does that make sense? just trying to see if anyone else has that same issue. It would be harder to tell unless you have the dash knob in the off position, start the car, and get out and check the tail lamps during the day.

I guess it wouldnt matter as I do want the DRLs on during the day as its safer (but just want the lower powered inner lamps on) but with all bulbs a glowin, they will wear out faster and, no matter how small of an amount, use more petrol, as its more of a drain on the electrical system.

Ok, so your outer front headlights are on, and the rear lights and number plate light? But not the inner front headlights?

Remember that the outer front headlights on the Polo are low-beam and the inner front headlights are high-beam. I think the Polo uses plain old low-beam as DRL's normally, but I think the Golf uses its high-beam as DRL's with reduced voltage (and so brightness).
