Definitely not traction control. Don't know if its the dsg as the engine itself just seems disconnected from lite throttle inputs. Then whoomf your off in an un dignified manner as the engine comes back from the dead.
Yeah, had this a few time too. It's like the supercharger has forgotten to engage and then it does and it's like you've floored it - but you haven't!

    • Hmmm good point it could be a supercharger issue. Is the problem only happening in low revs?

      • Don't think it's the super charger because I get it and I have a 77TSI (turbo only)

        • Can't say it's "only in low revs" as theres no revs.
It's essentially idling in gear - and then when you go to take off, you get nothing.
I've not noticed a sudden thump of a gear clicking in, or any unwarranted surge in power. I say unwarranted because the memorable times this has happened, I've wanted (and received) all of my power immediately after the incident to avoid collision.

          • So i have been reading some of the posts of the issue with no power when u put throttle down and its like there's a delay as such. I have a similar problem it has been happening since i got the car but i'm not sure if it's the same problem as what you all have but let me know if i do have the same issue maybe im wrong . So to give you a an example when i was on my way home from the SPOC/VWWC meet. I was at a set of lights next to a alfa GTA now i have had this happen a few times previous to this GTA but i will talk about the GTA story...

So what happens is, I'm in S1 or /D1 revs are at 1k put throttle just a alil so the revs are at 1.2k. kinda like launch control but not... Light goes (Green).... throttle all the way down.... now at this point you have 2-3 sec delay before everything starts to go, it's not the TC there is no wheel spin . its like when you put your foot down if its half or full it takes that 2-3 seconds for eveything to say (HELLO). it's quite annoying at times. Anyway at this point the GTA is at one car ahead and it stays that way. so what im saying is if i didnt have this 2-3 second delay at the Beginning it would of been a different outcome.

So can this be fixed with a dsg tune ?
is this the same problem you all have?
            is this a new problem?

            help! please.

If you have a tsi then you have a turbo, super, injected car

That's been my thoughts for a while. No supercharger input. Once the revs claw their way to 1500 or so, the turbo spools and you get a surge in power. I don't know how supercharges work though....so how do they operate? What's the start/stop rpm levels for the supercharger on the polo??

                • Haha lol 77KW Polo TSI you make me laugh. I hope you realise the TSI stands for Turbocharged, Stratified Injection. So in other words forced induction direct injection. There is NO supercharger on the 77tsi ONLY a turbo located at the front of the engine where the exhaust and air intake meet.

Only on the Polo GTI and Golf 118tsi been the only examples of twin charge (super and turbo) engines and this can be seen by the air intake that follows around the back through the turbo and superchargers.

Sorry to disappoint you but it had to be said xD.

                  • Also the turbo on the polo 77TSI starts to spool at 1500rpm (read the tech specs). The GTI having a supercharger and thus the forced induction is fed by the crankshaft means it spools sooner, meaning at 1200rpm or 1300rpm it is delivering peek boost. The advantages of a supercharger and what makes it so quick off the line!

I'm sorry but I had to giggle when I read this. Only the GTI has the supercharger...not the TSI.

NO supercharger because THERE ISNT ONE ON A POLO 77TSI.

Only the GOLF has the twincharger motor AFAIK and the GTI

You must have been reading an old Top Gear as in the Car price Guide they used to list the Polo as having a twincharged motor till I hassled them enough to change Next will be their listing of a Jetta as a Golf with a boot, which it isnt any more.

                              • Each to his own I guess. I have driven my mate's Golf mk VI 118tsi and test driven a 118tsi Jetta, bugger all difference really. Jetta is a little slower and not as chuckable, but very similar.

But we digress, this is a Polo thread
