Filled my 77TSI up with Shell 98 the other day, the car will idle rough at times and at its worst I can watch the l/100 counting up faster than usual just sitting at the lights. Seem to average 9/10 l per 100km in the city in moderate traffic now. VW have looked at this in the past and find nothing but recommend Caltex vortex which I usually use. I think its pretty lame that a brand new car is limited to one specific brand of petrol in Australia, I better hope Caltex don't change their blend.

I only fill up with BP Ultimate also. Shell and Caltex are always too inconsistant I've found.
Found the weird squeek/thumping sound I've been having at slow speed, turns out a swaybar link pin wasn't tightened enough when the coilovers went in. Gave it a tighten and all's good

I cannot offer any advice for the peeps in NSW but in Melbourne, Caltex Vortex IS the premium fuel. Whether you choose to believe it or not, BP Ultimate comes from the Caltex refinery. I have always used Caltex, then BP, and outside those two, fills are minimal until I get the fuel I need.Originally posted by BLN355 View PostI only fill up with BP Ultimate also. Ok, so I picked up my MY13 Gti today, they managed to fix the rattle by messing around with how the sound generator was mounted. It didn't need to be replaced or dashboard removed to fix.Originally posted by Adam84 View PostHi Rob,
Mine's a MY12.5
Reading through some other threads it sounds like possible causes include the sound actuator or fuel lines vibrating under the dash.
I share your concerns as well. I'd happily take it to a dealer if they knew what the problem was rather than taking the dash apart to investigate!
Hoping someone can share a positive experience or point me in the direction of a good dealership.
Cheers,
Adam
Oil temp gauge reading blank on the MFD was a software problem, something set at the factory, won't be a huge fix now that they know what code to change. Don't know if I've forgotten what the car sounds like after leaving it with them for almost a week, but 'playing' with the sound actuator thing has actually improved the noises reaching the cabin, even in the rpm range when the rattle wasn't audible. Very happy now.

Very Interesting, I booked in my MY12.5 GTi to fix this rattle issue, and they want to keep the car for 5-6 hours. lets hope its a quick fix. Will get them to top up the engine oil while its there.Originally posted by DETROITCANDY View PostOk, so I picked up my MY13 Gti today, they managed to fix the rattle by messing around with how the sound generator was mounted. Good to hear man. Hope they fix mine without too much messing. I can't afford for them to have it any more than 2 days.Originally posted by DETROITCANDY View PostOk, so I picked up my MY13 Gti today, they managed to fix the rattle by messing around with how the sound generator was mounted. Ill0gitech, I believe many dealers, including mine, offer a free 1000 km service. It's not required and not really a true service as all they do is check fluid levels and look for any error codes. If it wasn't for the fact mine needs to have the same problems as above fixed I may not have bothered but may as well do it to see if there are any other issues I haven't picked up on yet.Polo GTI 5DR MY13 | Flash Red | Xenons | Leather| Sunroof

Yeah, not a real service just a dealer thing where they check it out and sort any issues that you have when you use the thing.Originally posted by ill0gitech View PostWhat 1,000km? The first scheduled service isn't until 15,000km
A good idea in reality as you don't exactly know what to ask when you've never tried something.
Of course it wouldn't have helped if i had have known what to ask as the people i went to were not helpful, just salesy anyway1976 Toyota Celica RA23 - 2L 6 Cyl S/C

I will pass this info on to my dealer so they can hopefully sort mine out as well.
