Now my drivers seat is squeaking like mad... especially when going over speed humps or when I have the audacity to move around in my seat. I have read that others have had the same problem in this thread.
It's a nice car to drive, but it seems like there's a new problem every week and it's really becoming irksome.
Hi guys,
Just a quick update on some of the issues I've had (good news actually)
1. Dash rattle/vibration - In recent weeks, the rattle/vibration/constant drone of the Actuator seemed to be getting louder and more annoying each day, to the point where I popped the bonnet tonight and tried to take it out. Alas, I had no luck really getting my hand in a decent position to pull this off, but I did manage to literally no more than "fiddle" with its position.
Anyway, I took it for a quick spin and WOW! Vibration/rattle completely gone, engine sounded amazing and could even hear more induction noises. Trust me, I'm not handy and the furthest thing from a mechanic, but whatever I did in shifting it had immediate benefits. Not sure how long it will last, but at least I can point VW in the right direction if I need it fixed.
Give it a go if you like, check out the sound actuator thread for more info. I might have just fluked something but you might too!
2. Squeaking front seat - this also appears to have been rectified simply by adjusting the seat height. I'm a little higher than I'd like but it's silent which is awesome.
Best of luck with your Polo GTI - they're wonderful to drive when nothing is going wrong.

Hmmm... Turns out it could four vacuum hoses that were eaten by rats. Berwick VW said that their diagnostics say that the problem is EGR valve A and B, and that they are controlled by these hoses. One of them is in Sydney and the other three are in Germany – $400 all together and up to three weeks for them to arrive. The best thing? Because it's not a warranty job, we don't get a car. Just excellent........
Update:
They've taped up the hoses and run some more diagnostics and found that both EGR valves need to be replaced, under warranty luckily. Don't know how long that'll take, but at least it won't cost us anything more than the hoses.
Anyone using a Kufatec Fiscon bluetooth and having issues pairing an iPhone 5? Since switching it no longer pairs and says that there isn't a phone in range!!

I have recently noticed that my Polo GTi is making a noise similar to cooking popcorn while driving. The noise seems to be coming from the doors, or the door seals? It is getting starting to get to me.
awesome news! I only used this on the external rubber! I will apply this today and see how it goes, thanks gavs!
I can vouch for this gummi stuff. I only had one minor issue with my new Polo - a sound was coming from the driver's door near the B pillar - especially at low speed when going over bumps where there were minor lateral g-forces (i.e bumpy roundabouts, etc). Bought a bottle of the gummi stuff and did the rubber and the felt. Door has been completely silent ever since.

Preliminary diagnosis!
Control valve 3, N435 failure which actuates clutch K1, aka odd gears clutch. Resulting in, new mechatronics unit.
Hi Gavs,
im just wondering if your mechatronics unit has been replaced as yet? if so how is the car running since? unfortunately mine needs replacement too! what triggered me to get it checked was the car got stuck in second gear and second gear only.
Metallic sounding rattle going up inclines (especially with windows down and going past parked cars)
Has anyone else experienced this or have a fix? I have read through and haven't found anything. Sounds a bit like a grinding, at first I though injectors but I'm not sure. Especially occurs at lowish rpm perhaps up to 1750rpm.
I also get a rattle when I sharply rev the throttle in neutral parked past say 2000rpm but then suddenly goes away after about 2 sec, no matter what rpm I rev it to. If I progressively build the revs I don't get the rattle. Seems odd. Any thoughts??
