Seams my hatch gas struts are fading fast. They only lift the hatch in the last 1inch now. Have noticed them losing strength over the last 2weeks. It doesn't fall down (if its over half way open) But when it was new they would lift the hatch once it was open about 1/3 of the way.
Just past 17k and I really only open it a couple times a week. Once to put clean work clothes in Monday and again to take the dirty ones home Friday. also when I do my fortnightly grocerys. Its not like I open it everyday multiple times.
Just out of interest, has anyone on the Forum had a MY13.5 GTI replaced because VW couldn't fix the actuator/dash rattle that occurs when accelerating under load?

For the first time (10,000km driven) I think I experienced a 'false neutral'.
Pulling out of my street in 'manual mode' to get as much power down as possible to get a small gap in traffic. Revs did not go too high, but still in first, the engine lost power while I was on 80% throttle. The power died for around 1 second, then went on FULL 80% power again. It was extremely uncomfortable and very scary.
Is this what is called a false neutral? or did I experience something different? Anyone else had this?
Edit: adding that the engine/transmission was still cold at the time.

Replace a whole car? Because of a rattle? Good luck with that!
(Yes, I do agree if they can't fix it, they should replace...but I've never seen anyone get a new car because of a defect/s)

Built by stabilus? I know for fact that stabilus have a 35,000 cycle warranty so that should be a warranty job.
Seat creaks on both front seats tonight and can others do me a favour and check your drivers side leg bolsters? I'm not a small guy but mine has collapsed and passats had massive issues with collapsed leg bolsters a few years back from crap foam...

Iv noticed both my seats a very wobbly now and it's not due to any lose bolts/screws that I can see. There very slack when braking firmly.
My bolsters haven't collapsed but they have a crease running across them on the outside top of each seat.

In that case I shall consider myself very luck indeed. Here is our sequence of events:
10th August: We picked up a brand new MY13.5 GTI and drove it away for the weekend. It made a rattling noise from day one.
12th August: We returned the car to the dealership and left it with them overnight.
13th August: Car was returned to us with original noise rectified but replaced by an even worse noise.
19th August: Returned car to dealership (earliest date I could get it back to them)
23rd August: Car returned to us as being fixed. I recorded a video of the noise still occurring on the way home from the dealership.
24th August: Returned car to dealership together with the video of the noise. Loan car provided whilst they investigated.
30th August: Car returned to us as being fixed. Made it home without any noise.
1st September: The noise was back so I recorded yet another video of the noise and sent it to the dealership saying this simply wasn't good enough and wanted it resolved ASAP.
2nd September: Received a call from the dealership offering to replace my car.
What more can I say? Very happy indeed.

Sounds like that to me. Quite a few times now I've accelerated hard and hit a bump in the road or something resulting in traction control going off and dropping all the boost like a rock. Gives you the power back after a second or so. A true false neutral won't fix itself without you stopping and going out of gear and back again.

Buy a lotto ticket, and thanks for giving hope there's a VW dealership that makes the customer happy! How long do you have to wait for the replacement though?
Traction control doesn't normally cut power to zero, i felt like, in a manual car, going flat out, clutching in for 1 second then letting go of the clutch. Very uncomfortable. I have launch harder and faster in first before without experiencing this. I have tried to replicate it, and it does not happen again.

It does pretty much kill all boost for a second or two. I tend to drivr with it activated off in traffic

Got my drivers side fixed not long ago. They replaced the seat base and now its not squeaking anymore but a few days ago my passenger seat started squeaking!
When replacing the seat base though they werent so nice when taking the chair out/putting it back in. Found a huge gouge down to the metal and another nick in my driver side door sill!
