Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Are these metal plates fuses?

In the picture. Are battery terminal like metal plates fuses? If so I can seem to get them out. Any advice on how to check the ABS fuse?

Yes, they are fusible links. That fusebox does not match your other post; you said you had a 2009 - 2012 Polo, but that matches the 6C ~2014 model.

See here for the 6C layout.

508 would be the battery input by the looks of it; fusible links melt when failing, so they all look good from your photo.

Use the linked PDF to look for the fuses that have to do with the ABS unit if that's what you're trying to do.
