Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 81TSI 6R Wont Crank

    Evening All,

Just tried to start my 6R 81TSI Comfortline Manual as it's been stored for the last few months. When I put the key in the ignition and crank, all lights come on as usual, but there is no crank / starter noise and the distance (km) part of the display comes up with safe. Also, the EPC and engine light stays on as well as the radio showing Component protection active.

So far, I've left the car on the battery charger for a few days just in case it was a little flat.
Tried to jump start with an additional battery.
I've also disconnected the battery terminal for 15 minutes and shorted out the +ve to drain any capacitance.
Lights, wipers, A/C all work, but the windows won't wind down (new issue).
I've checked all the under bonnet fuses, but have not yet checked the internal fuse block.

I've got a cheap OBD scanner and app, they both show no error or fault codes.

Before the car was stored for a few months, I.have never had any electrical / fault issues like this.

    Any ideas?
Working...
