  • Chasing good aftermarket parts for 77TSI oil pump chain and sprocket

    Hi All,

I am about to do the timing chain on my Wife's Polo (77TSI), and want to do the oil pump drive chain and sprocket as well.
I purchased an complete SKF timing chain kit for $180 but VW want over $300 for just the oil pump chain and sprocket.
Anyone know of a decent aftermarket oil pump chain and sprocket in Aus that is a little easier on the pocket but still good quality?

    Cheers.

Below are links to a company in Europe that sells all sorts of Skoda/VW parts. Note both parts are the genuine items, and have cheaper alternatives linked on their webpages.

Oil Pump Gear 1.2TSI Škoda 03F115121B

    Oil Pump Chain Škoda 03F115225

Or this kit which works out to be around $235 excluding freight.

      Wow. Thanks VERY much.
I'll go and have a look now.
Thought there might be some equivalent to Clickable Automotive for VW parts.

      Cheers.

VAGParts would be as good as you will get in Australia, but looking on their site it only lists the chain and its a 4+ week backorder.

I ended up ordering from the Skoda links you supplied above.
I went the cheaper options and it ended up half the price what the stealership here wants, including delivery!
Not too much load on that sprocket so we should be good with aftermarket!

I'm surprised that there aren't a lot more timing chain kits available in Aus as they all need changing! LOL

          Thanks again.
          Cheers.

Stock levels on many parts are still very much recovering from (covid-related) supply chain issues. Slower-moving parts will generally lower on the list for companies to get back into stock because of simple economics. And there really aren't that many 1.4 twin charged engines here in Australia... And costs are still pretty big for a lot of things too, due to the reduced competition. Sucks, but it is what it is

Glad you were able to get the parts you needed.
            Cheers
