Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Conti contact premium2 vs re003 - 2015 polo gti

I've found a mixture of opinions on best tyres for the polo going (215/40/r17). Many say the re003 but others say the conti. I can get them both at the same price. Hoping to get a new set this weekend so keen to hear from someone who may have tried both.

We've only had one set (conti's) and I thought they were ok. Not great. On my golf I've run a number of tyres including the conti sport contacts, re050a, p zero and Pilot super sport with the latter being my stand out favourite. I liked the conti's but the PSS was miles ahead in grip, performance and were also quieter.

RE003’s are very average tyre. Same with RE050’s.

I put Pilot Sport 4's on my 2016 GTi and I love them. They transformed the car. Loads of grip and great in the wet
