Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Cold Air Intake

Just wondering if anyone would recommend a cold air take for a 2015 Volkswagen Polo 1.2L 81TSI 6C. Does it have any benefit for a stock car? if so, which one? Also wondering if it would be worth it to do it as im looking to get a tune in the near future.

The only benefit will be sound related as you will hear the turbo sucking noises when accelerating and possibly some diverter valve (air releasing) when you come off the throttle, as the stock airbox is designed to mute these noises as much as possible as the average owner does not want to hear them. If any performance benefit at all, it will be so minor you would not notice - but sometimes just the sound is satisfying enough.

Forge and MST are the only companies that I know of who make intakes for the 1.2 TSI engine. Just look at the MST one carefully as im not sure it suits the newer 1.2TSI engines (I believe it was designed for the older ones from 2011>).
