There is a cable installed in the glove box which requires a 30 point lightning adaptor to connect to my iphone. I order one from Ebay, but it is not genuine Apple.
When connected, and the media button is pressed on the head unit, it should pick it up. But nothing appears.
Do I need a genuine Apple lead?

Some cables only charge your phone from there . You have to get the proper cable that plays music. Same with an Android phone. The supplied cable only charged my phone and I had to buy another one which was only $14 off Ebay and worked
