Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Supercharger pulley kit polo gti

    Hi all - my mechanic has suggested my supercharger pulley / belt is wearing which is what's causing a squeal when its cold, sounds like a fanbelt slipping sort of noise. It goes away when its warmed up.

    Quoted me about a grand to fix it on my 2013 model twincharger gti, does anyone know of any aftermarket options?

    the supercharger drive is also the waterpump. Around 600 bucks to buy plus fitting of 3 hours or so.

    Done a couple just before christmas. Not my favourite thing

      thanks for that. Sounds like I won't be getting out of it much cheaper. mechanic quoted 450 for the bearing etc. direct from VW and 4 hours fitting cause its up against the firewall. so quote might be an alright deal all things considered.

        Turns out I also have a coolant leak going on, I'm wondering if its related to the supercharger pulley given its also the waterpump....

          Without a doubt, its related. I did two in January at our shop in Moorabbin.
