Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2016 Polo 6R 6C G13 coolant flush and refill help

    Hi,
I recently had my Polo serviced and they found a coolant leak at the thermostat. Warranty had just run out but I am getting VW to do a 'goodwill' repair. They said that they are going to have to replace the pump or something along these lines and will do it for free, however, I will have to pay $250 for them to do a coolant flush and refill. It sounds pretty steep, considering the only reason I have to flush and refill the coolant is because of their fault. So I’m thinking of trying to flush the G13 coolant myself. However, I can’t seem to find any instructions on how to do this.

Has as anyone out there done this before? And if so, would you be able to give me some tips on how to do it? Or should I just pay the $250 and get VW to do it?

    Thanks for your help
