  • GTI 6C 2016 stereo modifications

    Hi all,
I would like to know if anyone has modified their sound systems in their GTI’s. I want to keep the factory head unit as it has car play, also I don’t want to mess with the cars software. I am after speaker improvement and an easy amplification install. Nothing over the top without sacrificing space.

So yep I've done a 5 channel amp install with a small subwoofer patched into the oem headunit with a loom I bought and modified. It's completely reversible as I didn't hack into the headunit wiring.

Here some photos. Made a false floor for the amp in the boot.

Sounds great and oem speakers have responded well to a little more power quite well. Subwoofer fills in the low end.

Happy to dig up names of the parts I used if you want them
      Cheers

That's clean as. I've just ordered the wiring kit I need to install a subwoofer my mate will be lending me. If it works out i'll go out and buy my own.

With the 5 channel amp, did you use 3 sets of RCA's? How did you tap into the speaker outlet? Did you use speaker level output converters?

Would be good if you can send a list of what you used. How did you make the false floor? With mdf and then carpeted?

        Thanks in advance.
