Tyres for 2021 Alltrack Premium

Hi folks.
At my last service, the "car folk" advised I would need some new rubber around the time of my next service. Now they claim they can source tyres cheaper because they "do this all the time" and I don't believe them and know they won't give me any say in what is fitted. So I'm having a look online at my options before heading into a physical store.

Can anyone recommend replacements? If I remember rightly, they are 19 inch wheels on the Premium.

I've been reading up on Cooper ProControl as I only ever ran Coopers on a couple of Patrols and loved them, but keen to hear what others have gone for.

This may surprise some, but dealers do in fact have OEM tyres available at a reasonable price.
The tyres fitted to your vehicle have a VW part number and the dealership network is required to stock them.

The tyres available will be factory approved matches to what is fitted to your vehicle, size will match and in most cases the model and brand is the same to what you have currently fitted.
Alltrack came with 245/40 R19, normally with Pirelli Cinturato P7, which are not a common size so having a range of options for replacement may not be available as much as you would hope.

When shopping for replacement tyres look at what is currently OEM fitted and compare that same size, speed and weight limit to what is around. That way you are comparing apples with apples.

I would obtain a quote from your dealer on what they can fit and take this around to the various tyre stores to see what they have to offer.

Given that you live in Perth WA, and running Cooper's previously on Patrol's I can only assume that you might be using your Alltrack for more rugged adventures then others on this page (myself included). As such, I think your decision for the Cooper Pro Control in a 245/40R19 XL 98W is a valid choice. I for one, would never consider this tyre for my particular use...

I assume you haven't got the greatest relationship with your VW Service Department, as you refer to them as "car folk"?
It is reasonable to think that a company such as Volkswagen would have access to tyres and at at a reasonable price. They do this everyday... Here is a link to the VW site for some additional information: Information on VW wheels, tyres & rims

And for you comment, "I would need some new rubber around the time of my next service" that would likely be 12mth / 15,000kms, so still plenty of time to research, source and obtain some tyres of your choice.

There are plenty of online tyre companies that you simply enter the tyre size, and they will come up with multiple options for you.

For reference, I run Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 6 on my Passat Alltrack, they are a fantastic tyre.

One thing to remember, they are also a Seal Inside tyre, so there is additional benefit for that.

Thanks for this. I'd not looked into the Eagles yet but may be an option. I'm not doing anything hardcore with my driving, but there is a higher degree of pea gravel roads. Current oems have done about 33,000kms and I'm 6 months away from a service, so pretty disappointing how they are lasting given the car generally carries myself and my great dane. That's the main reason I was looking to move away from them.

I thought the Alltrack Premium had 225/45r18 as standard? Our base 2017 Alltrack has 205/55r17 as stock.

If you really want to run ATs then drop back to 16" rims and fit 225/60r16. You'll have a better choice of tyre
