Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • B7 Passat Audio static issue

I tried a search, but was unable to find exactly what I have been experiencing. I have owned my 2015 Passat TDi for a month or so now, and absolutely love everything about it! However, there is one small annoyance that has become increasingly apparent lately, to do with the audio system. I have a 32GB USB stick plugged into the cable in the center console compartment that I play my music off. It has been playing funny buggers, where by when the car is turned on, it will (for lack of a better description) hiss at me! Almost like a static or distortion sound, which will not go away unless I switch to radio or turn the car off. Has anyone else experienced this? I will bring it up at my first service, but thought I would ask here also!

Thanks for the response! I might have to look into copying my music to the built in HDD then.

Is a very slow process to do that An SD card is better and you can add to it as you like and just stick it back in.

Not uncommon with the USB sticks.

Have seen this in the past.

SD card is the preferred method, but just be certain you're using the correct card.
