  • B6 TDI Timing Belt Change Costs?

Hi, new (used) '08 B6 125 TDI owner here.
This is probably a common question, I did a few searches but came up with nothing.
What $ range would I be looking at for a timing belt/wp change roughly?
I thought the TB was every 150k going off some posts, but also see 105k posted as well?

    Thanks for any info.

105K or 7 years, for the Australian market.

Expect to pay around the $800-$1000 mark for an independant repairer. Up to $1500 through a dealer.

Factor in a new waterpump too. Crazy not to do it at the same time

On those engine, it'll be leaking already. Might as well get the ball rolling and have it done anyway.

...well for that prize they probably just replaced the belt and nothing else.

Only a fool pays twice, as they say.

Nothing against you personally, but it would appear that the dealership has skimped on the job.

My dealer basically said It was pretty much mandatory to do it don't the pumps have a plastic impeller?

                      Yes.

They have a plastic impeller, in case the bearing fails, so it doesn't chew a hole through the block where the impeller itself is situated.
