Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Climatronics diagnostics + secret menu R36

    Hey all

    I have seen that there is a diagnostics mode that the climatronics control can be placed into by holding the A/C + face vent button letting it self test for about 30sec and then you can also hold A/C + front demister buttons and you will enter the hidden menu.

    Does anyone know what the codes are brought up mean? There are multiple entries that can be changed

    Any help would be great.

    Simon

    Press AC and the top vent button (seat and the arrow facing up).

    Then use the left and centre dials to set the number (channel) on the left hand side, as below:

    * 1.0 : Temp as read by sensor in middle fan speed knob
    * 1.4 : light intesity falling on same sensor
    * 4.0 : Outside temp - front bumper
    * 4.1 : Outside temp - roof
    * 4.2 : Outside temp - rear bumper (inside temp?)
    * 15.0 : Oil temp
    * 19.0 : Uncorrected speed (Kmh)
    * 19.1 : Uncorrected speed (Mph)
    * 19.2 : Coolant temp
    * 19.3 : Tachometer
    * 19.4 : oil pressure
    * 25.0 : Voltage

    Video of it here:

      Thanks mate but that is for the older units.
      The info I have found thus far is this :

      AC and Lufverteilung for the top at the same time about 3sec. hold,
      - Left is dagestellt the subgroup before the decimal point of the main channel and after the decimal point.
      - The right of the value to be displayed is specified
      ("Low" is to be understood as "0")

      The main channels can then be adjusted to the left rotary control.

      The sub-groups can by pressing the "fan speed" key can be set.

      -> Channel 29.0 -> speed in km / h
      ----> As the first digit is always 1, from 100km / h from a 2 & 200km / h, a. 3
      ----> In the state (0 km / h) is output "Low".
      ------> As an example: 55km / h is given as 15.5 (see picture below).

      -> Channel 29.1 -> speed in mph
      ----> As the first digit is always 1, from a 100mph. 2
      ----> In the state (0mph) is "Low" is output.
      ------> As an example: 35mph is given as 13.5 (see picture below).

      -> Channel 29.2 -> cooling water temperature in ° C
      ----> As the first digit is always 1, from 100 ° C. 2
      ------> As an example: 85 ° C is specified as 18.5.

      -> Channel 29.3 -> Speed x100
      ----> As the first digit is always a. 1
      ----> In the state (0 rev / min) is "Low" is output.
      ------> As an example: 2000 rpm is given as 12.0.

      Hopefully someone might have some more info
