Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mk6 Golf R Steering Wheel into R36 - Help!

    Hi All.

So I've seen a couple of threads of people that have successfully installed MK6 Golf R steering wheels into their R36's, and I want to do the same. Although I'm a little unclear 100% on the process, and what is needed to get it working... Some people have had to have bits coded etc, and it would be great if anyones got any advice on this at all?

I've found a steering wheel literally 5 minutes away from me, with airbag intact which is perfect, but is there anything else I should be checking before I buy it to check it'll fit? Mines an 08 plate Passat R36.

    Thanks!

I did this recently on a 2010 R36. I think that you should be able to just swap the steering wheel, and then do a little coding.
You'll need to use VCDS or OBD11, go to the steering wheel control module, go to long coding, enable LIN 2.0, and disable LIN 1.3.

My steering wheel control module is slightly newer (5K0953569T), but I think the process is similar for older ones. See this VCDS thread by one of the members here who had a 3C0 953 549 AC SWCM.
Hi, I am a little confused about what components I'll need to upgrade a Passat B6 multifunction wheel to a Mk6 Golf GTI wheel and airbag module. The car currently has a 5K0953569T SW control module which appears to be an all-in-one SWCM, slipring and indicator assembly...is this correct? If...
