Passat R36 steering wheel

Ok, maybe nasty was the wrong word.

Dated in design and appearance then.
Just reminded me of an old Mk5 Golf or Jetta.

The new wheels really just fit in your hands so nicely.
Then again, if you didn't notice a difference between the two, as they say (in the nicest of ways) ignorance is bliss

I wish I couldn't notice a difference as it would have been a lot cheaper for me!

Even just the gear knob really changed the look and overall feel of the car. Feels current now rather than from 2005!

I just changed to the R Wheel Last night also

had the same issue needed the AH Index SWCM Controller

Easy to find on ebay for not much.

The New Wheel is definitely an improvement over the stock.. and i feel it has a nicer feel than the chubby R36 Stock wheel....

I had to have one ever since I drove a Golf R...

Its in and I'm happy!

I picked up the car from Sydney in Feb with the MK5 wheel and drove it home to Melbourne and it was ok, but I've just recently done the same trip return with the MK6 wheel and it seemed quite a bit nicer, and the extra multi function buttons are welcome.

'Standard' MkV wheel and 'Standard' MkVI weel are shaped differently - the MkV wheel has mostly the same profile all the way around, wheras the MkVI has a nicer 'shape' just above the 9 and 3 o'clock positions for the fingers to hook into.

Comparing a Mk6 R wheel to an R36 wheel is like chalk and cheese.
After all, a R36 wheel is just a poverty spec Mk5 Golf/Jetta wheel which is pretty nasty.

The only thing on the R36 steering wheel that's the same as a MkV Golf/Jetta steering wheel is the horn pad/airbag cover. The rims are different, the button pods are different, and the trim pieces are different.

It is true, however, that the R36 never got the updated MkVI-style hornpad/button pods that the rest of the Passat range got when it was facelifted in 2009.
