Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Transmission status - Not registered?

    Hi all,

I can't remember the last time I ran a scan but ... the other day I was surprised to find the following entry under:
    Auto Trans - Status - Not registered - 0001

The car seem to be driving/changing gears Ok though with the mileage on the clock there are these digs, small shocks and shuddering when selecting D or R from Park.

Can anybody guess what might have caused the error? How to proceed given the above?
BTW I've checked there were no fault codes registered under [02] Transmission Electronics.

    Cheers

is it checked under the gateway installation list in VCDS? if there was a CAN bus issue you would know about it, it would of jumped into limp mode.

Thanks, I'll run another scan next week. Thinking about it there was a fault showing at the gateway but from what you say it can not be anything serious which would cause, for example, the car to go into a limp mode.
