  • R36 Front seat lumbar support

Hi guys. My lumbar support for my driver's seat is not working. Motor seems to be working when buttons are pressed (can hear it) but bolsters won't 'inflate' or change. How can I access the lumbar support? Do I need any special tools?

I am unsure how the R36 seat is assembled, but when I added the heating to my rear seats, I needed side cutters and hog ring pliers to remove and re-attach the leather.

You might need to remove the seat and have a look from under it; you will need an m10 triple square to remove it.

The bladders aren't really accessible without destroying the seat upper unfortunately.
Leak could be anywhere in the pnuematics system so you're better off getting another seat that's in working condition.
Then you could try pulling yours down (the covers are an extraordinary price if you end up damaging it) and might get lucky and find you can repair the bladder or a line/valve if you can find the leak.
