Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Misfire on different plugs

I've been hunting this misfire for a while but something baffles. This is on a R36

Factory plugs which are NGK ILZKR8A Laser Iridium Spark Plug car misfire on cold till its warmed up

Ive had Bosch Double Iridium Spark Plug 0242140528 YR6TII330T fitted hardly any misfire on cold.

Why is it misfiring on the NGK but not on the Bosch?

So far new coil packs, air mass meter

I know carbon build up on the 3.6L can cause miss fires at cold, it might something to do with that, have you ever had it wallnut blasted?

Could incorrect gaps be to blame?

Where abouts in the UK are you? I follow these guys on Youtube and Facebook (very knowledgeable guys) and they do carbon cleaning as well as a whole host of other repairs on VW/Audi vehicles.

These guys are in Dudley, just outside of Birmingham.

Might be worth a drive up north to Darkside Developments in Barnsley.
