Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Battery Replacement

    Hi There

    Long time between posting.

I have to replace the battery in my wagon (r36) but I can't figure out how to remove the battery thats in it. It seems to be well constrained in the left rear and there is no bolts to loosen. Can someone give me the way the battery is removed please

    Cheers Bruce

Probably got clips right at the bottom on each side with a screw holding each one tight.

Did you find the clips? They are located in the bottom corner of the battery.

However, anyone know what is the additional cable connected to the negative terminal? (where is red arrow is pointing to)

Do I need to disconnect this cable before disconnecting the negative terminal?

Why not go to a professional battery shop and buy a battery with free installation. They'll use a jump battery and you won't get the disco lights on the dashboard.

            To Louiz

Also put a more specific LOCATION in your SIG so people know where you are and can offer local help for you.

No good saying go to Campbelltown if you are in Kununurra

Thats something aftermarket that has been fitted to the car. Eg lightbar, fog lights, different radio etc.

Just disconnect the main negative terminal off the battery and it will disconnect the aftermarket item as well.

Thank you Lucas_R. It would be the trailer light port?
