Alltrack 2012 auto tailgate slam when closing

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum, so be gentle

We've recently purchased a 2012 Alltrack as a company car. We drive relatively long distances with it and love the VAG build quality and style (we have a couple of Audis as personal cars and love them). The Alltrack is great, the 6-speed DSG has not played up yet so we are happy with the way the car runs. It could benefit from a 7th gear on the highway for fuel economy but the alternative would be a 7-speed DSG which is not a good idea.

My question is related to the auto-close tailgate. It works fine, but in the end it slams the door so hard that I feel sorry for the lock. Is this normal ? Is there a way the closing mechanism can be adjusted ? Thank you very much.

Yep it's normal.
It's pretty cringey but it's it was early in the life of auto tailgates. They got much better in later iterations

Whats wrong with the economy. Ive just done a 1K trip and got 5.6L per 100km in a 6 spd Passat and yes my tailgate shuts fairly hard as well.

check your number plate fixing, if the screws are tight
I found that on mine the screws were not tight,after tightening up, the sound is much much lower

The fuel economy is great, but on highways with a 110km/h speed limit the engine runs at a quite high rate, hurting the consumption a little bit. But it's a great car nonetheless.

Weird my Passat is only at 2100rpm at 110

That's quite high, considering the max torque is achieved at 1750 rpm. My wife's Countryman travels at 1700 rpm in 7th gear and our Q7 hums at 1650 rpm in 8th gear. But it's still OK, the consumption is still better than my twin-turbo petrol V8

Auto tailgate is the one thing I don’t like... I have generally crated my dogs for travel... in the Passat that is absoflutely 100% of the time!
