I've got a 2007 3.2L VSE wagon which I've had since new. Great motor, nice car.
Over the past 3 years I've started experiencing intermittent problems unlocking the door locks (including tailgate - no tailgate lift). This initially started with the rear, passenger-side door lock. At that time all other doors would unlock from the key fob. Then it started working again. Then no door would open from the key fob. The only way into the car was using the "spare" key in the driver's door. That continues intermittently for a few months. Then that problem disappeared (again) for about 12 months and now it's back...again...but different...slightly. Now I cannot open the tailgate lock from the key fob.
The tailgate lock was replaced about 3 years ago when it stopped latching, preventing the tailgate from locking properly. (This may be unrelated as all the other problems relate to failure of the remote unlocking of the door release mechanisms. )
Is this a common problem with Passat door locks or perhaps other VW/VAG vehicles?
