EPB reset / service tool

I need to replace the rear brakes my 2012 Passat 125Tdi Highline wagon. I am looking for a tool that will deactivate and re-activate the electronic parking brake. That is basically all I want to do. I have found a number of devices on the market but not sure which ones are suitable or safe and also not wanting to spend many hundred dollars on the more advanced tools.

Autel Diaglink is pretty good value for money. Will do exactly what you need, and then some.

I took the motor off and wound them in manually with a torx as per this video: YouTube

There's probably valid reason why you shouldn't use this method but it worked perfectly fine for me, no issues with auto hold/hill starts etc, the motors did run for a little longer than the normal on/off noise on first start up which i think was them "re seating" themselves to the new pads.

Not worth the risk, when the calipers are over $1Kea to replace.
