Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2011 TDI stop start error and ESC error

    Hi guys

I plan to book the car in with a local VW indy later this week, just thought I'd check to see if anyone else on here has experienced a stop start error and ESC system error?

We had a new OEM VW varta battery installed at our local VW dealer 12 months ago (battery was coded/registered) so I wouldnt think that would be the cause of the stop/start error?

These are the error lights illuminated on the cluster

There is an ABS gremlin on the B7s with a certain ABS module, which can be rectified by a software update to it. If they clear the code, it probably won't come back.

      Oh right!

My wife mentioned that it's done this before but it normally goes away, this time around though it seems to be hanging around!

FWIW I had my local indy clear the code it came straight back.

The fault code was related to the wheel speed sensor, it got checked out but seems like its taking a crap so a replacement is on order..
