passat remote control 2010

Hi guys I have a 2010 passat and the remote suddenly stopped working. Only the lock and boot release button works. The unlock button stopped working what can cause this problem?

Did it perhaps get wet.

Have you tried your second one that came with the car

Try a new battery in it, and see how you go.

Pull the emergency key out, slide the silver end off, then gently prise the back cover (with the VW logo on it) off. The battery should be a CR2032.

Also, if you end up having to take it into the dealer, or wherever to have the key replaced, make sure you bring all other keys that fit the vehicle.

When a new key is programmed in, all non-present keys are booted out. It's much easier (and cheaper) to program them all at once.

So you think a flat battery would cause the remote to half function? Like 2 out of 3 buttons work. The unlock button does not work but other 2 buttons which lock and open boot work. Battery would cause this?

I have no idea am making suggestions in answer to your question up to you if you try them

Stranger things can happen We have a doorbell which works if you rotate the batteries in it but after a day or so wont go unless you do. Also had a TV remote that the power button wore out, all the rest were ok

Sometimes one circuit may need a bit more current than the others. Certainly the cheapest option to start with.

Also depending on the type of switch one could have a lot more wear than the others.

I had the exact same thing happen - was quoted $450 for a new fob/cutting/programming - Pulled the remote apart, then some delicate cutting of the white plastic to get to the button side - found the switch that makes contact with the button, had cracked solder joint. Quick resolder on all legs.. did the other two for good measure - All working now
