  • Passat c3 tyre pressure sensor

    Hi all,

Recently bought an 06 passat, used for 13k (71k km, thought that was fairly cheap, in Sydney)

All going smooth with car for a while then the light for tyre pressure came on, checked wheels and they're all at 36psi (including spare)

Looked at manual and says they should be 2.5 bar, so they're correct pressure

Is it just a bung sensor in a tyre and if so is that easy enough to fix?

Alternatively, I'm also looking at getting new rims/wheels, am I better of just waiting till I do so and get new sensors installed on the new wheels?

What costs should I be expecting for the second option?

    Cheers,
    Ric

There's a button in the glovebox in the top right corner. Hold that in for a few seconds, and they should reset.

      hi
i looked into getting these replaced in my 3cc.very expensive here.cant remember the amount but i was able to get them for a fraction of the cost from the link below.you can get a service kit for around $5 a wheel.which comes with new seals, valve stem etc.also a new unit is available.i believe the battery only lasts around 6 years or so and is not a replaceable item, so a whole new item is required. let me say you probably can replace the battery if you have the know how but they were not built to be changed.hope this helps
      cheers
