Hi Burna,

I've gone through the magic 100 in mid-March when it was still 1.49 - $A100.88 for 67.3 litres. That hurt.

That was followed by a close call of $A99.11 early April.

Prices have gone up considerably since then, and I'm not looking forward to the next one.

Obvious question: how do you get 25% off? Any hints would be most welcome.

On another note - $107.00 today to fill the tank. Lucky I only do that once a month. And the actually first tank of fuel we put in since picking it up in March.

So how does the petrol v diesel debate pan out? Cost v economy(distance traveled on a tank). Diesel v premium or 100 octane? How can you make the right decision when purchasing a new car?

Taking into account the fuel costs only, I'm looking at $A 0.09 to $A 0.12/km, depending on the economy achieved and the actual price of Diesel.

Don't have a comparison with petrol but I have a feeling that it's still more economical, or at least not more expensive, to have a Diesel. Don't forget the driving characteristics - relaxed but plenty of go if required.

Just my $A 0.09 - 0.12 !!

I filled up the other day and it was at 164.9/lt. Yikes. It cost me $107.00 to top up.

Luckily I am gettin better than7.5lt/100km around town so it's still cheaper to run that my wifes 120 BMW...

I paid 161 for my BP Ultimate today, cost $92 to top up the tank.

Unfortunately, my FPV GT-P is a thirsty little brute, and a tank will only last about 380kms

On one hand, I hate the high cost of oil and the translation to high petrol prices. I hate paying for petrol

On the other hand, our business goes crazy with high oil prices and we're flat out keeping up with demand for our services. Paying for the petrol or diesel isn't a problem, but it still hurts like hell to pay eighty bucks to fill up the Golf and over a hundred to feed the Q7!
