2010 r36 need brakes

Hello fellow members. This is the first time posting up a thread in the forum for me, as I own a 2010 r36 and currently its got 155k km on it and running strong. I have always used oem brake pads and rotors on the previous brake changes. But now I am looking for something that performs better than oem. I am looking for pads and rotors that give an overall stronger bite and still compose a quiet ride.

I have used ebc yellow with ebc rotors on my other car, the braking performance is largely improved but even a train that is stopping is quieter than mine. I did some research, stoptech and hawks hps came up. I am wondering if any fellow members have used those two pads before or any other possibilities.

i changed to QFM pads - shocking squeal but no dust
on advice i went to remsa pads as the sqeual was unbearable and the performance is good but the brake dust is HORRIBLE, worse than stock.

personally i would steer clear of both above and i would stick with the OEM route for pads

regarding discs - DBA rotors are very highly recommended and look good too.

Just bought some DBA T2 slotted rotors and ATE ceramic pads for my passat 3.6 cc.havent had time to fit them yet so i cant give any feedback yet.my research suggests they should be very good and i have had the rotors on my previous car and they were excellent.all up for the front about $395,excellent value.

Were you using DBA disks when you had the Remsa pads? Im asking this because i know several other people who have had the same experience as you regarding noise and brake dust when using the Remsa pads and DBA disks. Also, did you have your disks machined before fitting the pads?

Funnily enough im using Remsa pads in both my VW's with OEM disks and they are completely silent at all times and far less dusty than the stock pads.

To the OP, i would definitely recommend the Remsa pads if mated to OEM disks - they are brilliant. No noise, much less dust, disks last longer.

Hawk HPS pads are known to be very noisy - i would avoid them. The only other pads i would consider apart from Remsa are the ATE ceramic ones.

As for disks, im pretty sure the R36 uses the same 345mm vented disk as the R32/Golf R. Speak to GSL Rallysport/Brakes Direct and give them your VIN number and they will be able to tell you everything you need.

as above.i got mine from GSL Rallysport. i have used the QFM pads on 3 other cars and they were brillant.virtually no dust,no squeal. Lucas_R is right as my pads said they fitted R32 on the box.part no. for the slotted disc's is DBA2808S.

ps.i will give feedback once fitted.just waiting on my son to get enough free time to fit them as an old fart such as myself has the knowledge but not the willing body to fit them.

Yes, I am in Canada. I did search around and many of those brands came up. Just wasn't sure which combo would provide a stronger brake performance and quiet ride. Dust wise, I won't really mind since Vancouver is known as a rain city, hence the car is always dirty.

They are incredible brakes... far more impressive than the acceleration of the car!

If you want to do a BBK then PB brakes is worth looking into

would pads for a cc vr6 fit the passat vr6 wagon? In north america, many sites don't have the passat vr6 wagon configuration available, only the cc vr6 is listed.

The website's configuration only shows cc vr6 while under passat, it has the 2.0 and v6 , which i assume is not same as the r36 vr6.
would the cc vr6 work for passat wagon vr6?

Have a look on the ATE Europe site & compare / x-reference the part numbers.

Or email ATE tech department & ask them for the numbers
