Brembo 6 Pot or VWR 6 Pot BBK?

    Brembo 6 Pot or VWR 6 Pot BBK?

    Hi All

    Im getting a BBK on my 2009 R36 wagon, and I'm torn between the Brembo 6 pot system with a 355mm drilled disc, or the VWR version with the 332mm drilled discs...

    I'm not really concerned about price, I 'm just curious what folks thoughts were - stay original VW/R or go with a famous brand?

        You can get a HPA BBK, 355mm, 6 pot calipers, two piece slotted rotors, under $3K
        I have this on my Octavia (similar to Passat) - amazing braking

          How will the rim clearance be with 355mm?

          I'd also be considering the weight.

            Enough said. Given the choice you have, I think I'd opt for the VWR BBK as I've heard nothing but great things about that setup.

              Given that the standard R brakes are 345mm, why would you put smaller rotors on? Just curious. I presume it matches the calipers at have more pistons, but very interesting question mate.

                Price no object, I would always go for a kit that is designed for the car, rather than one just bolted on because they fit.

                Stoptech does a fair bit of write ups on the impact of brake upgrades and I think they are worth reading.

                For me, the brake kit is only one factor. I would also like to see what my choices are for brake pads.

                I've had no complaints with my Endless big brake kits. I used their 6 pot/4pot upgrade for my Evo 8MR to be faultless. I think the MX72 brake pads are superb. I found that upgrading the pads on my standard Brembo callipers to MX72 on the Nissan GTR brought a noticeable improvement in stopping power.

                  355mm rotors only fit under 18" rims
                  The Brembo calipers need a lot more wheel/spoke clearance
                  Light weight calipers with two piece rotors will weight less than stock (my HPA were 1.4kg lighter)
                  (One piece 355mm rotors would very heavy)

                  Better pads do provide better braking - best bang for buck for sure

                    Gonna go with the VWR kit. Plus, they've just released a two piece rear BBK disc that matches the front slotted discs too.

                    So the car will have the 2 piece rotors all 'round. It added $1k to the upgrade, but if you're gonna do something, do right and do it once.

                    Parts arrive in a month, I'll post some pics when done...
