  • 2011 Nav & Reverse camera?

I've just bought a 2011 Passat wagon, car came does not have nav or reverse camera so I'm wanting to upgrade both these to the factory units. Does the 2011 B7 still use the RNS510 unit for the nav? If so can anyone point me in the direction of the cheapest place to buy these from a reputable dealer/person? I have seen this shop Home page before on another forum but have no idea about their rep. Below is a pic of the console area, any help greatly appreciated

    Yes factory nav is RNS510.
JKU as you have linked is a local supplier of all those sorts of parts. Can also recommend a local installer.
Not the cheapest, but provide local warranty and support, plus ship from QLD rather than Europe.

Ebay is cheaper, with slightly increased risk plus you need to find an installer.

Your Rcd510 might support RVC, check if there is a long empty sock at the rear of the unit.

My R36 has the Rcd510 supports the RVC, I will just buy the camera to retrofit. Not having too much desire to upgrade to RNS 510.

I've bought items from JKU and had my own 510 upgraded and modified by them.

Great company, great service! I'd highly recommend them. Sure, you can probably get it cheaper on eBay, but JKU's support is tremendous - well worth the extra few $$!

Thanks for the info, that's all I needed to hear so I'll get in touch with JKU. To "Passat R36", I'm really wanting to change up to the nav the most, the RVC is probably second on my list so I'll have to buy the RNS510 anyway.
I've also got some Dynaudio 242GT speakers and an Audison Voce AV Quattro amp to go in, hopefully whoever JKU recommends can do the lot.

By all means pursue the camera, I reckon its one of the best options you can have on a car. I wouldn't bother with the genuine satnav though. It's rubbish; difficult to programme and not all that accurate or informative. Further, when you're typing stuff in its an alphabetic keyboard, not QWERTY, and there's no way I know of to change it. If you have a smartphone you're much better off with that.

Would you consider an OEM-lookalike aftermarket unit? DkN is selling the ANS/DNS series of aftermarket units which are designed as OEM replacements, sharing an almost identical look and feel, except with bigger screens. The ANS range has been around for a while and seems to have a good reputation. The DNS-range is intended to replace the ANS range, but seems to be having a few teething problems, with one or two advertised features not exactly as originally described (like the Android screen mirroring function).

What appeals to me about these units, aside from the OEM-like looks is the integration - it will integrate with your MFD, climatronic, OPS and RVC, including guide lines. Not only that, the seller is Australian, works closely with the manufacturer on the design, and seems to put in a lot of effort to provide support for these units to VWWC members.

Thanks for the suggestion kleung, I'll have to read more obviously but I just read the last page of the DNS thread. Seems like there are a lot of very unhappy people...
