R36 Servicing in Sydney

Hi guys, anyone got a suggestion for R36 servicing in Sydney, preferably lower north shore? I just had a $1.5k quote for the 4 year service (~53,000k) from VW in Artarmon which is a little bit ridiculous for fluids and filters. Also included an "optional DSG service".

What sort of cost have others seen for the same service?

If that's the major DSG service, then yeah expect it to be quite expensive.

Nope, scheduled service was $1.19k and the DSG was $300. Apparently just an oil change.

PS the 4yr service includes the following - hence the high cost:

- Brake fluid flush
- Haldex AWD fluid flush and service
- Gearbox fluid flush (although you might be able to postpone this until next service given you are on 53k)
- Radiator fluid is also flushed i believe at the 4yr service
- Cabin/pollen filter
- Engine air filter
- Engine oil + oil filter change
- Not sure on the R36, but spark plugs might also be on the 4yr service.

Yep, that's right Lucas and spark plugs are included too, just seems very exxy to me. Anyway, I'll share any revised prices, I suspect I can get that down well below $1k with an independent VW pro.

Yeah, it can be dear due to the oils and parts required.

Yeah, if you shop around, maybe much less than that, but don't expect that everything will be done as it should be and using the right fluid is important too.

You might like to speak with Dean at VW Mobile Servicing. He's on 0418-630 902 (Sydney based). He's fully VW trained and he has all the diagnostic equipment etc.

I've been using him to do all the work on my R36 for the past 6 months. His work is excellent and his pricing is sensational. For instance he did my 60K service (changed all oils in engine, DSG & HALDEX unit) for $750.00! And better still, he comes to you and does the work at your own home/office etc!

He's a great guy and I'd rather support a small business locally than the VW giant anyway...
