Just wanted to get some advice on which software is best for creating DVD of video clips that I have. I tried ConvertXtoDVD with no luck. My clips are in mkv format.
Both of these did not work for me. Im suspecting that my firmware update has caused the DVD feature to stop working. I am using Aldi discs for burning my clips. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Have you tried a standard DVD in the player? Some firmwares set the reguon to something other than four. You can check if the player is ok in diagnostic mode or vcds. The players are not friendly to playing the wrong format on a disc. They also won't play videos from an SD card or mdi as far as I have tried.

Aldi discs should be Ok I have done my firmware upgrades and maps on them and havent had any trouble
I use Wondershare video converter to do my movies as I have quite a lot I did buy it but should be available through Frostwire or similar
ALso look for a program called DVD region + CSS Free
It takes the protection and region code out of anything. Runs in the back ground.
Original DVDs work fine. Just tried my little ones Elmo dvd. Will try some of the recommend software and get back with to you guys inregards the outcome. Thanks
The DVDs I create work fine else where but not in the car. Just tried Wondershare video converter and no luck. Its odd that it can play originals but not ones that I make. How do I check what format my RNS plays. I assume it was PAL.

One thing that can upset some players is using DVD+ instead of DVD - discs One of my DVD players wont play the + discs.
You must also always finalise any written discs but as you say they play alright elsewhere I guess you have done that.
Wondershare will write in both NTSC and PAL you just select what you want.
I have an NTSC Video camera and all the video plays on my different players Havent tried them in the car though

Thanks for those, that narrows it down a little.
If commercial DVD's plays in the car we can at least confirm the player itself works.
If your personally created DVD's work elsewhere we can confirm that you're making them correctly (probably). What are you testing the discs on in your house? (Or can you confirm if you put them into a computer you are seeing a one or two folders on the disc named "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS"??)
Hillbilly has raised a good point. The *type* of disc + or - R and even + and - RW discs can make a hell of a difference. Some players are picky on which type they will accept. Usually it's -R are the most compatible, the +R then -RW then +RW being the least likely to play (or at least it used to be way back when I was burning discs).
Disc brand can also make a difference sometimes with some players just being *that* picky to spite you.
So what brand and type of disc are you using?
If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
I have used really good Verbatim, lesser LG and Bauhn (Aldi) and all work in mine It can make a difference how fast or slow you burn them as well I used the Bauhn when upgrading Firmware and Maps and they worked fine.
Try burning them at about 4 speed and see what happens on a DVD -R disc Get someone else to burn them on a different PC for you and see what happens

Just check the settings to make sure the videos are 16:9. You may need to re-encode the videos if they are not (which would either crop or stretch them).
Windows 7 comes with 'Windows DVD Maker' which (when it works) is not bad, otherwise I use Freemake Video Converter (free download).
