I have watched this thread with great interest, a 2008 125kw DSG wagon being in my sights.
Pulled the trigger 3 weeks ago on one in Melbourne. One owner 83ks, all services, etc. completed. Injectors replaced. Mechatronics unit untouched.
Have now driven 2300ks and finally home. What a great car and I'm pleased to have made the decision to buy a Passat. Hasn't missed a beat. The only disappointment being the factory fitted 18"alloys, a bit too high and wide for an old boy like me.
Still learning as I go, though owning a 2006 Golf has helped.
Don't be afraid to buy this model, they're great value and the more they're talked down the better value they'll be!
The friendly service folk at Jacksons in Hobart helped with servicing information and checked the work had been done.
Mark Cubit in parts is worth his weight too, a good hand.
cheers,
richard

Wife has just driven down to our farm (500 km away) with no problems - will wait and see what happens next!

The PO spent $1200 on tyres for the 18"s, I'd have to say money well spent and same as the original fitment if the spare is anything to go by. No skinny tyre saver in this one!
