Hi guys, how do you tell if your passat had the dynaudio upgrade? I recently brought a 2008 r36 avant and not sure whether it's fitted?
    Cheers

Check under the passenger seat, that's where the amp is located.
Also there are two mics in the headliner near the map reading lights.
If you have VCDS you can scan for it.

Ah ok thanks kamold. Does the dynaudio include Bluetooth? I've tried to sync via the head unit but can't get it to pair with my galaxy s 2 so assumed it want fitted.

No, Dynaudio is the amp and active monitoring.
Bluetooth is a separate module that can be installed under the other seat or behind the climatronics panel in the dash.

Ok will check under the passenger seat, hopefully the amp is there.

What are the 2 mics for in the headliner? And what do you mean by active monitoring?

            Re: Dynaudio

Not an expert but the mics basically monitor the listening environment in the cabin and adjust the dsp settings on the fly to optimise the sound.

You'll find all R36's will have the amp under the passenger seat. The dynaudio amp is all silver while the standard amp has black sides. Cars equipped with the dynaudio upgrade will also have the badging on the speaker grills. Definate way to check is by either getting the part number off the amp or via VCDS

The two little tweeters inside of side mirrors should have dynaudio badge. The RNS will also have a powered by dynaudio on the startup screen.

Ah ok, definitely no badging and messaging on start up.

Just turn it on and play some music. The difference is night and day- Dynaudio is very, very good

Or if you really want high quality sound, install a decent aftermarket system which will sound even better than the factory fitted Dynaudio.

A decently installed, decent sound system may sound better than Dynaudio if you want to go down that path... but that aint always practical to do so.

I dont think you can achieve a factory (2k) Dynaudio matching sound by putting in 1k of aftermarket gear....

After hating it for the first two months, I missed my Dynaudio that much, that the first thing I did was Bose-ectomy my current car with instructions to try and make it "sound like a Passat Dynaudio..."

Agreed. Creating a sound experience better than the Dynaudio will cost significantly more, but for audio buffs it will be worth it and the comparison bewtween the two night and day.

Yep, cost me over $3k to go down this path. Very happy though.
