Anyone has video / pics or instruction on how to do a force regen?
And also when it's safe to do the force regen.
I'm about to buy a VCDS and am sick of having the cars DPF light go on all the time and worse have another
coil light / CEL come on.

Do it outside on a hard surface, though

If it asks for a road test, which basically means you have to do the re-gen on the fly, don't start the re-gen until you're out on the open road, or on a freeway where you can do a constant speed for an extended period of time.

Have someone accompany you to do the driving, leaving you to operate the laptop.

Anyone done a successful DPF delete and tune?? I'm at the stage where this DPF light regardless highway driving or not keeps coming on. I didn't buy the car just to drive and regen it every weekend.

Isn't your car under warranty?

Man, seriously - get the dealer to scan the car while the car is running, with the fault light showing, and pull some fault codes off the car already.

Whether it's a faulty sensor, a faulty DPF, or some other problem - VW will fix it under warranty at no cost to you.

If there is a fault in the system, and you continue to drive it without rectification, you WILL damage the DPF beyond repair.

If VGA finds enough evidence in the diagnostic log that they will extract from the vehicle, to suggest that this could've been avoided, they may NOT pay for a replacement several thousand dollar DPF.

It is worth noting that ALL fault lights should be taken seriously, and rectified as soon as possible.

I agree, there is a lot of diagnostic info with the dpf related faults, inc. how many km driven from the first time the ecu fault light was on, how many trips were made and much more.

Sent car back to VW service, they tried to do force regen but could not do it. They think its a faulty sensor. They kept car overnight and today told me car need new ECU because it wont let the car do proper regen and stuffed the sensor.

Anyone had this issue before or heard of it?

UPDATE:

fFfFff!!!!! no ECU available in the country..car is off road for 10 days!

good news..they did a ECU update and cleared the code. Happy again..and Trivett VW blacktown did a good job following up with the issue.

not happy again..got the car back and tested it for an hour, the passive regen kept going even after an hour. Same symptom i feel before the DPF light will come one. So sending car back to VW. Luck VW head office got me a loaner but still unhappy with the car! coz its too much hassle.
lesson learnt no more diesel car for me.

The CEL glow plug lights issue has disappeared however the fact that I have to do forced highway regen DPF light comes on still appears once in a while which is what I hate. Just waiting for some extra cash and moving away from Diesel due to this issue. I love the car and the effeciency of diesel but I hate how it dictates your life to do highway runs if you don't complete a regen cycle just to get rid of that dpf light.
Most petrol cars are now getting more effecient close to diesel specially turbo four engines so thinking either a 320i BMW or Audi Q3 tsfi
