    But it's a worthwhile investment.
I purchased the bulbs you linked to and they have arrived, I put them in and they work, but I get a light fault. They must need a resistor.

No need for a resistor they are error free.
Mine don't get no warning at all.
      Try swapping them around.
You got the Mtec Cree led right?

Well, I went to the item number you linked to:
        "200658276293"
        which came up with:
"MTEC T10 White CREE LED Parker Bulbs - GENUINE"
which on the face of it looks correct.
However, further down on his page, which I missed as I thoroughly believed without question that your link was correct, it states:
"These are not canbus LEDs so if you have a late model car, these may cause errors. Returns will not be accepted if these cause errors on your car. If you are unsure whether your car requires canbus LEDs, it is best to purchase canbus LEDs, see item number 160484078360."

So, now it looks like I need to order these. However, when I put the item number "160484078360" into Ebay search, no such item exists, nor on his site. I have sent a message to the place where I purchased them and am awaiting his reply.

          Hi
My apologise, looks like the seller has updated the item. Best to do a search on item as per pics.
I guess you can use the normal cree led as a interior lighting since interior lights don't throw error if you can return it.
Just mention to Stuart that ebayid CRU22Z recommended you.

Again so sorry for the mishap.

Will fit them up this weekend and let you know how it goes.

The ones I got are the same as yours: MTEC CANBUS ERROR-FREE T10 W5W XENON White CREE LED Parker Bulbs. When I had checked eBay, there was no 'error-free' in the description, so went to another supplier (was only a couple of bucks more).

Hey cru22z, is it hard to remove the tail-light? Saw the screw/nut thingie holding it in place when I popped the cover, looks pretty easy, but have not tried it yet. Anything to watch out for?

my definition of experience: something you get just after you really need it!
OR you can ask someone who has already got the experience . . .

            Thanks!

I'm going to buy a couple of sets to try in the golf puddle lights and reverse light.

cool...looks scary at first but first thing you do is wear a latex gloves on both hands and have a towel/soft cloth ready and plenty of patiences. This will prevent any scratches on the panel and for the removal of the light bulb and for grip.

As per the manual, just unscrew that white nut/screw thingy whilst supporting the tail light. when that pops out the tail light should slip out easily after you remove the cable plug. Just remove the cable connectors out first. Theres a red lock that just pulls back and a release clip.
Other than that its dead easy.

Anyone done this on a wagon yet? there is no direct access to the the back of the lense without removing some trim... might have to investigate this weekend (unless someone is in the know already) Of course I could RTFM...

I need double the brightness to back out of my drive I was thinking of a small light-bar under the bumper, but these might do it ... are they (subjectively) double the factory ones...

not sure on passat puddle lights but you can access a screw and the lens assembly when you fold the mirror forward on golf gti.

Plan on taking a before/after shot showing how they light up the same area - will post them and let you know my subjective opinion on brightness.

if it reflects on a surface or wall i can say its about 30% brighter than OEM. This is the only one easily accessible in the market that is error-free. There are brighter ones out there that has projector type lens attached to the LED to double the brightness like on this videos but they trigger an error unless you can wire up a resistor.

No problems, it's all a learning experience.

I am ordering the correct ones, now.

                                Attention All!
I seem to be getting an intermittent bulb-out error on the dash now. Seems to happen only after a subsequent start or drive.
Or during driving and then it will go away after I stop and then restart the car.
This only happened after running the lights for a week. When the bulb error appears on the dash, does the cars MFD displays which bulb has an error? I cant seem to catch it.
Anyone installing the MTEC CREE ERROR FREE LIGHT please let me know what you guys find after a few uses.

                                Thanks

updates: I caught the error and it says Left side bulb. My suspicious is the actual bulbs contact to the bulb holder could be an issue because it was so hard to push and remove the bulb from the holder.
I have emailed the seller, and hopefully I can get another set.
So if anyone installing this LED CREE ERROR FREE LED bulbs just be aware and let me know what you guys experience.
