Flick the highbeam towards you as you exit the seat (having pulled out the key) shut door and lock, then the coming home lights go on... (I think that is it, dont normally use this method).... otherwise, I pull the key out, shut door, hit unlock Leaving home lights go on, I then lock from my verandah...

Either option needs to be set as active from MFD...

    Cheers

Yep, I use the exact same methods, though when using the highbeam stalk for coming home as soon as you flick it toward you (after removing the key) the lights come on straight away before you leave the car. I have mine set for 20seconds...

I am just trying to understand the befit here. On mine if I set the coming home "on" & to 20 seconds, provided the ambient light levels are low enough the headlights stay on after I remove the key. I don't have to pull the highbeam stalk. Is this manual method to overide?

I haven't tried it without using the stalk. I'll give it a try tomorrow but I expect the method you use is the set & forget, where as we have been using the manual method.

I can't get mine to activate using the stalk even when turningd on through MFD but definitely works when set through MFD when you unlock (leaving) or turn off the car & take the key out of the ignition (coming home).

Yep, mine activate when you unlock the car & when you take the key out, always did. When you unlock the car (bi-xenon) I think this is set as a default setting by VW as every Bi-xenon Passat including mine all come on when unlocking the car, not sure about non xenon lights though..... We would all have the exact same feature it would just be a matter of how you set it up or use it that determines when or why the coming & leaving activate & whether it operates the same in non bi-xenon Passats.

I have a bi-xenon and only way for me to get coming home to work is to pull the high beam stalk back.

Must be a difference in features between V6 & TDI on MFD.
